Amitayus is the Buddha of Infinite Life. He is represented red in color, wearing richly adored robes and crown, with a elixir vase rested on his lap. Amitayus channels the energy of nature with gentleness and purity. By meditating on him, the disease of delusion becomes the wisdom of discernment. As in this finely cast and heavily gilded bronze Amitayus, the face of the Buddha is in serene expression, his hands holding the elixir of long life, seated in meditation on a double-lotus throne; detailed with hand carved lotus petals, hand chasing foliate patterns in the robes, his face is painted in cold gold, body surface gleaming in contrast with the dense motifs in the embellishments. The Buddha's countenance conveys youth and exuberance. The base is tightly sealed with a viswavajra etched copper plate.
