A
carving in cream colored, slightly translucent stag antler, with characteristically
hard and glossy surface; markings visible, porous material at the top and in the
hollow bottom. Well carved and engraved with sumi, black coral inlays for the
eyes; depicting a somewhat less than rustic sennin, with courtly attire, high
hat and wisdom scroll. Age patina with amber highlights, himotoshi at the back.
