The bodhisattva Quan Yin is a highly popular deity throughout Asia and can be found in multiple forms though out Tibet, China Korea and Japan. This graceful carved wood statue shows the goddess atop a powerful and beautifully rendered dragon. The elements of this statue move together with amazing grace. Quan Yin’s robes flow into the dragon, ocean waves and the highly detailed lotus leaf. Her countenance amongst the dynamism is of deep peace and equipoise: All moves around her but she is still. Quan Yin holds a whisk in her right hand and pours out a steady stream of immortality nectar from her vase to benefit all beings. The artistry in this statue makes it an excellent find a beautiful depiction of this potent and beloved bodhisattva. (SD)
