Indian Bronze Deity Dancing
Dakini
Devi Goddess
Origin: India. Circa: 20th century or earlier H
5.5 in.(14cm), W 2 in.(5cm), D 2 in.(5cm)
Condition: very good solid
bronze A
beautifully cast bronze Dakini, five and a half inches high. She arcs slightly
to her left, striking a balance with her centered left hand. Scarves and prayer
beads hang in opposition to her lilt, and the effect is a palpable sense of movement,
swaying with shakti, the dynamic power of female wisdom. Her figure is well proportioned,
life-like and balanced, as is the feel of the piece; the weight of solid bronze
resting in one‘s hand. The patina shines a golden color with a traces of malachite
complicating the finish. She shows signs of teaching mudras on both hands. A gorgeous
little piece in very good condition.
