Sky Walker
Goddess Origin:
Tibet, Circa: 19th Century H 11

Dakini is first seen
as a cosmic force, through which she creates, annihilates, and recreates the universe.
In her gentle, radiant Dakini form, she is the gracious grantor of boons, wealth,
fortune, and success. As shown in this elegantly executed bronze, she represents
the archetype goddess. A manifestation of nature, fertility spirits, and celestial
nymphs; with only minor variations for female deities across Hindu and Buddhist
faith.

| | The
stunning bronze is an extremely unusual representation, and is possibly a tantric
yidam, intended for secret practice. The goddess has a vajra in her right hand,
and up holding a skull cup in her left hand; she is seen in striking posture,
without any ornament and fully naked, her black hair gathered into a high stupa,
and side locks that flow over her shoulders. Most remarkable in this piece is
the penetrating gaze and the strange smile of Shailaputri; with all its powers
intact it is finely cast, with minor abrasions from handling through the years.
