The
manju netsuke is named for its shape which resembles a bean cake. Here is a piece
carved from natural material, with emphasis on Zen aesthetics that sans
all decorative embellishment, with even shines in simple elegant notations and
textural notes distinctive to the material; an example of restraint and spare
design that is a hallmark of original manju style.
