This mid size ivory bridge measured from the outside curl is 14.5 inches. The acute realism is a brilliant study of group of elephants; symbol of prosperity and universal peace. From the largest leading elephant to the baby last in line, the bulk and presence of these six elephants are perfectly captured. These delicately carved elephants must have been influenced from European sculptures during the Meiji restoration eras. Perhaps at around the time when the ivory carver Ishikawa Komei won The Best of Show in the Japanese British Exhibition in 1910; or no later than 1940s'. This well carved ivory bridge is from a single piece of quality ivory. The ivory has an original aged light-cream patina, varying to gold cream, moist and has a smooth finish. The tusk seats on an elaborately carved teak wood pedestal. It is unsigned by the artist; and is in excellent condition. The set is a gorgeous display for home or business.
