ebullient small Happy Buddha, dispenser of all good things, granting the fulfillment
of every wish, rotund and abundant, heavily gilded, seated on a red lacquer lotus
base with upturned petals, his face in an open smile of great joy, left hand in
the varada mudra of generosity, the right hand resting on his upraised knee, clasping
a mala, or rosary. A spirited rendering, its lightheartedness persists despite
gilt loss to the face.
