Condition: excellent! Antique
fine carving of a nude in fine quality tusk; unblemished, dense and well marked
with striations and Schreger lines, rich color of cream to gold, smooth unctuous
surface polished to a high hand finish. Depicting a reclining nude holding a peony,
a flower associated with feminine beauty, spring and love. Engraving and sumi
for the hair and the pupils of the eyes; otherwise an uncolored expanse of voluptuous
surfaces. The young woman wears a slight smile, a necklace, two freely moving
bracelets and tiny shoes on her lotus (bound) feet. Wooden base.
