A finely wrought antique solid bronze of Shiva Nataraja in the sacred dance of creation and destruction. The God of Dance is standing atop the dwarf of Ignorance Apasmara, while engulfed in an aurora of flames spitting from the mouths of two Makara. As he moves through the 108 forms of movements, his youthful countenance appears lucid and peaceful, he is dancing with a damaru drum in his upper right hand as the Lord of Time; while his upper left hand holds the Agni fire of destruction, which indicates that all worlds come into existence and to an end. As a cobra swirling around his lower right hand as the release of kundalini energy, in sequence to the fearless blessing gesture, his lower left hand is pointing to the raised left foot, which affirms the liberation from worldly existence. This antique Indian bronze is modeled through the lost wax process with elaborate hand-chased details. The imperturbable power of this classic Shiva Nataraja is well preserved in its excellent condition.
