fine large bronze depicting the Buddha seated in the Dhayana posture of meditation,
his right hand resting in his left, holding a bowl of auspicious substances. He
is adorned with jeweled earrings, necklaces, armbands, bracelets and girdle, his
lower body dressed in a thin dhoti with a swirling hem at the bottom, on a beaded
double lotus base with delicately edged petals atop a faceted plinth. He wears
a lotus ornamented crown around the flaming usnisha which signifies his attainment
of pristine enlightened consciousness. His face bears a gentle smile. The overall
effect is of a weightlessly upright and formally composed quietude. The surface
is even, showing a patina of darkened bronze with some green oxidation.
