Condition: very good! The
Jarkhand State in India, is populated by over thirty-two indigenous tribes. This
rare antique Basthar bronze is a beautiful and uniquely ornate tribal interpretation
of the Goddess Parvati. Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, is considered the
essence of Shakti, the divine force and energy of creation. This Basthar bronze
communicates an aquiline elegance that is complimented with exquisite detail in
the goddess'es dress and accouterments. Parvati is placed on a stand that mirrors
and patterns her elegant dhoti. Her breasts are bare delicately covered by ornate
necklaces that mirror the belly-chains around her waist. Her stance and countenance
are potent and powerful. The goddess is surrounded by a nimbus that is gracefully
shaped in the archetypal form of the primordial uterus. This rare and special
bronze has an earthy beauty and is in very good condition. (SD)
