dog is a symbol of fidelity, and a sign of good luck. This beautifully aged antler
horn netsuke depicts a docile puppy-like dog attentively sitting, simply and folksy
without ornamentation. There is a tangible, antique quality to this piece that
is lacking in more modern, ‘collectable’ netsuke. Its patina is warm and rich
as the coat of a healthy dog sitting at the foot of his master. Realistically
sculpted in the early 19th century, this unsigned piece is in excellent condition.
