Emperor and Empress in classic royal attire, carved from the solid tusk tips of
quality elephant ivory, cream to gold in color, well marked with striations and
age patina, ornately engraved design with sumi, the Emperor seated upon a nine-dragon
throne, his robes repeating the dragon theme, while the Empress’ emblem is the
phoenix, with five phoenixes on her throne and the theme continued in the robes.
The Empress holds the Imperial seal and, although the regalia is classic, the
crowns with high finials and the Emperor’s hairstyle are distinctively Quing.
