"None Being". He teaches that men should not strive,
but to follows the way of Tao, which is to live in harmony
with nature, and bring completions to all thing without using
forceful efforts.
This 20th Century Showa Period ivory netsuke depicted
here, Lao Tse is wandering on a horse. A highly stylized outstanding
prototype. The details over the face of Lao Tse is remarkably
expressive. The acute gesture of his finely detailed hands
that hold the rope to the horse high-lighted the docile animal
with great charm. The composition is seamless. The large okimono
netsuke is in perfect condition. It is one in a masterpiece
series by Koshin.
