carving from the trunk of a tree, broadly carved depiction of Amitabha Buddha
seated in meditation posture and dhunana mudra, a gesture of inner balance and
immersion in boundless space; a state in which objective consciousness is nil.
Amitahaba is seated on a double lotus throne in a pillared niche surmounted by
a lintel atop which are two rampant dragons, with dragons carved in relief on
the pillars and the lintels over the bodhisattvas. Above the shrine celestial
clouds rise in spiraling loops.
