Padmapani, with lotus in hand, is a Buddhist god, also a bodhisattva and a distinct form of Avalokiteshvara. His image is red in color and he has three eyes. In this early 20th Century bronze, which is well cast and finished with hand chasing, the god stands before a flaming mandorla on a lotus base, richly adorned in jeweled earrings, necklace and crown, the right hand in abaya mudra of no fear, the left in the mudra of generosity, held downward with the lotus stem.
