Condition: very good! Eight
and a half Inch tall ivory carving of Lan Ts’ai-ho, the Chinese patron saint of
florists, rendered with his emblematic basket of flowers. This piece depicts the
Taoist immortal standing slightly sideways, his eyes highlighted by fine black
detail on the pupils and upper eye-lids. Faint dimples frame the relief of her
parted lips. The elephant ivory is richly cream colored, and its natural grain
flows beautifully over the skillfully carved folds of her dress. In excellent
condition.
