Baby Ganesha
Private Collection

Ganesha is one of the most worshipped deities in Hindu and Buddhist faith. He is commonly revered as the God of Wealth and the God of Wisdom, as well as the patron of art and science. Hence he is propitiated before the beginning of any new venture, whether it is starting of a new business, building of a new house, or embarking on a new journey. It is customary for businessmen to pray for his blessings each morning.

Ganesha is believed to be the first born of Shiva and Parvati. There are numerous statues and pictures of Baby Ganesha for the stipulation of prospereous enterprise and child birth. Though few can compare with this exclusively hand cast gilded bronze, which is embellished with coral inlay and turquoise stones, and a small green emerald atop the crown of the prince-like Baby Ganesha. With a rich gold gild patina enhancing the surface, at first glance, the regalia statuette appeared concise in design, nevertheless the precision of hand-chased details emphasize the meticulous quality of the piece, which emits a charming lifelike essence with an illustrious opulence.
