Antique
netsuke in fine stag antler, cream to deep gold in color, allover age patina with
high surfaces burnished from handling over time. Depicting a small bird at rest
on an eddying pool which swirls in stylized undulating currents beneath it, with
two flower stems curving toward the bird, one in full bloom, the other budding.
Delicately graphic and possessing great charm; the bird’s eyes of inlaid black
coral. The netsuke was once treasured by its former owner; whose initials appear
in two separate places on the bottom.
