Seated in serene meditation deep within the stainless center of a lotus bud encircled by flames is Quan Yin, Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. With her left hand in blessing mudra, her right holds a vase of the water of life, which she dispenses to ease the sufferings of sentient beings. The flames encircling her rise to the top of the lotus to flare up to the clouds supporting a figure of Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light whose limitless compassion manifests a paradise for all living beings who have faith in him. Amitabha sits in supreme bliss, a wisdom gem in his hands, representing the True Mind, the self nature common to the Buddhas and to sentient beings – infinitely bright and everlasting. Beneath the figures are floral and foliate forms above waves undulating in an ocean of compassion. In rich fruitwood; excellent condition with a satin finish..
