A
reclining Shakymuni, or sleeping Buddha, in the well known pose of attaining par
nirvana. A small but beautifully Chinese Peking Glass sculpture. The Buddha is
in a peaceful, dozing expression, his hair is detailed with snail curves, the
figure is elongated, with a reflective snow white color for the skin tone; whereas
the lotus pedestal is thoroughly painted in gold, the purple and green fanning
fabric and the gold liners tracing folds of his robe are mostly faded. Nevertheless,
there is only a few minor surface cracks, the statue observed no break or repair
and it is in good condition.
