This well-cast bronze statue depicts Amitabha Buddha in a traditional Qing style, characterized by its linear rhythms and spiritual essence within classic Chinese symmetry. The figure is cloaked in a patch-stitched kashaya robe, seated in the diamond posture (dhyanasana) with legs crossed in a full lotus. His hands are held flat in the lap in a meditation mudra, and his hair is detailed in blue with meticulous snail curls. The statue has an aged patina with verdigris washes and sand-colored granulation, emanating a sense of serenity and conveying the natural composure and dignity of the Buddha. Amitabha in deep meditation represents the most benevolent of all Buddha since the 5th century AD. The statue exudes a naturalistic liveliness and radiates a quality of tranquility.
