An intriguing hand carved lacquer netsuke in the form of a small Fukurokuju, the God of Good Fortune; Happiness, wealth and longevity are the boons of this ancient deity, who bestows his gifts to all. Accompanying this carved miniature netsuke is a lustrous lacquered wood Kurawa (ashtray). The circular vase-shaped tobacco jar has a small bronze lid decorated with maple leaves. Overall in fine condition, the sagemono set conveys an intrinsic beauty long celebrated in the Japanese aesthetics.
