A large curved leaf nimbus surrounding this Amida Nyori with a radiant
wash of gold, illuminating the Buddha of Infinite Light as he descends from the
Realm of Bliss to welcome his devotees. The delicate and majestic Buddha is standing
serenely on a lotiform lotus pedestal, parallel arcs of falling garment flowing
with a rippling rhythm, two semiprecious stone inlaids for the urna and usnisa,
his facial features are youthful with great charms, insertion of reverse-painted
crystal eyes down cast revealing an imperturbable essence. The figure was carved
in the joined wood block technique, the head, hands and feet were carved separately
and joined to the torso, the wood surface was lacquered and applied with cut gold
leaf; other than minor abrasions and incense smoke darkened the gilded surface
through the ages, the statue is remaining in very good condition.
