Thank You!

This gold-gilded bronze statue is a stunning representation of a Tang dynasty period (618–907 CE) Buddhist deity Shadakshari Lokeshvara, one of the many forms of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The statue is superbly cast with pronounced elements and deeply incised hand-traced details. It has an aged patina, surface abrasions, encrusted green malachite and red cuprite mineralization inside and out. The four-armed Chenrizig Buddha has legs crossed in dhyanasana on a double lotus seat above a three-tier octagonal pedestal, wearing a diaphanous dhoti gathered in pleats adorned with carved jewels and necklaces; his moon-shaped facial features are framed by a tall chignon and an elaborate high crown, with four hands gathered in Anjali mudra in an upright symmetric posture that radiates an immense spiritual force and blessings. Considering the value of this seemingly century-old gold gilt bronze statue, regardless of its superb artistry and natural patina, without scientific testing, we conservatively attribute the statue to be from the 19th century or earlier.
