Thank You!
Gleaming pure gold and copper on bronze, Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Transcendent Wisdom, is seated in the diamond pose (vajra paryanka). His youthful form is poised in lotus meditation, graced by a serene, inward-smiling arc, with a downward gaze descending toward the sentient beings. His five-pronged crown, a circlet of celestial power, frames the high knot of his hair, a symbol of homage to the Vajrasattva. In his outstretched right hand, a double-edged wisdom sword is poised to cleave the veil of ignorance. His left hand, delicate with a tender grace, cradles the stem of a lotus that rises in an elegant curve to blossom beside his left shoulder, bearing the sacred Book of Divine Wisdom, the Prajnaparamita Sutra. With raised cloud motifs beautifully gilded in gold, two soft, woven cloud-streams sashes drift and flutter around him, lending a subtle, living motion to his youthful body, which leans slightly from the central axis. This immaculately cast figure, imbued with the time-accentuated charms, its base sealed with the copper-plate blessing of the engraved Viswavajra (double vajra), is a seamless echo of Tibetan Buddhist consecrated statue traditions.
