bronze Buddhist ritual mirror on a finely carved wood podium, with stylized rolling
waves gilded on vermilion lacquer, over a rectangular lotus petals slab adorned
with carved through cloud motif, representing the all encompassing rising moon
in the ocean, and the perfection of the Moon Goddess Bodhisattva Gakko. The carving
is small and delicate, but exceedingly heavy for its size by an enclosed stone
for counterweight. Section of peeling lacquer in the back of the stand, the bronze
mirror is likely a later addition; an exceptional rare find. Sold
