A whimsical smoker with a large head and a stout body, two bulging eyes looking up skyward, kneeling on one knee in a squatting position, firmly held in his right hand is a large pipe dangling from his lips, and cuddling dearly in his left is a tokako-ire completed with a netsuke. As he reclines on a wood tea caddy, the smoking man is unmistakable pondering on serious business. This artfully rendered netsuke is hand carved from preferred natural material, tactile and evenly polished to an even shine, the surface appears moist in tea red stain color. Signed Tomoichi inside a rectangular reserve on the base. There is no cracks and no damage of any kind observed.
