Vairocana is the oldest of the five Dhyani Wisdom Buddhas. Here, the Great Illuminator is brilliantly evoked on a multi-tiers lotus pedestal, seated in front of a sun disk arising from a lotus flower, luxuriantly cloaked in gold with a copper necklace, hair in blue gathered under an abbot hat decorated with two long copper hairpins, with a soft expression of grace performing the mudra of wisdom fist —a connotation of the union of the spiritual and material realms to restrain passions that may hinder one's path to enlightenment.
