large and substantial solid wood carving in rich red fruitwood, one single piece
including the base. A well carved secular work depicting a peasant girl carrying
a water jug. The figure’s relaxed position causes her sari to drape attractively;
she is adorned with necklaces and bracelets, her hair pulled back into a braided
bun, capturing an Indian ideal of bucolic beauty that lends great charm to the
work.
