Buddha communicates the essence of the young warrior prince Siddhartha’s full
enlightenment. There is a deep presence, peace and innocence that resonates through
the countenance of this Ming bronze. Cast in two pieces, the statue displays a
number of pleasing patinas. Its form is pleasing to the eye. The Buddha touches
the Mother Earth in recognition of the moment of enlightenment. The Buddha sits
on the lotus that represents the full blossom of liberation. This bronze conveys
a simplicity and power that embodies the deep compassion of the deity and the
artistry of the period.
