Samantahbhadra
embodies the Primordial Buddha In Tibetan esoteric Buddhism. Traditionally he
is depicted in deep blue, and is shown in tantric union with his consort Samantabhadri.
As depicted in this small gilt bronze, they are shown in the sacred union of Yab-Yum.
The female Samantabhadri holds a vajra in her uplifted arms, her body arches up
meeting the penetrating gaze of Samantabhadra, whose arms wrapping around her
and met in dhyana mudra. As the embodiment of compassion he embraces her transcendent
wisdom. The finely wrought gilt bronze has a jeweled third eye. Despite its age
it appears to have only a few dents and minor scratches, overall the statue is
remaining in very good condition.
